22nd October 2006 - Bristol South Hill Climb and Final Results
The traditional season closer on Burrington Comb took place last weekend
, result here.
There were a few changes in the placings with Swindon RC doing enough
to jump up to fourth in the team standings. Christine Colquhoun secured
the women's title for the second year running and also secured the third
place V5 prize. The only significant change was Gloucester's John Murphy
securing second spot in the V6 category.
Final points standings here
and a list of category winners here.
2nd October 2006 - Gloucester results & updated points
Following the penultimate event of the 2006 series there are still a number
of trophies to be settled in the final round on Burrington Combe. Gloucester
result here. Updated
points here.
So what's still up for grabs?? Swindon RC, Severn RC and Bristol South
are all vying for the final 6th counting team spot but it is Severn RC
who have the upper hand having already completed the necessary 18 qualifying
rides. The V5 third place is up for grabs with a possible move up into
second if the final qualifying ride can be completed. The second and third
spots in the V6 category could not be more finely poised with Bernie Brown
(Severn RC) and John Murphy (Gloucester City) with 568 points a piece.
Bernie currently holds second spot on count back, but by a single point!
Gloucester City's Christine Colquhoun needs only to finish the final event
to take the spoils.

23. Result here,

12th July 2006 - Correction
Please note that there has been a mix up with dates for the replacement
Gloucester event. Unfortunately the event date was incorrectly listed
on the CTT website as 3rd September when it will in fact take place on
the 10th. This means it is on the same weekend
as the Gillingham event. While this is not ideal the WTTA feels that,
due to the extent of publicity already undertaken for this replacement
event, it remain in the series. Apologies to any riders for whom this
causes problems in riding both events.
2nd July 2006 - New event
Following the cancellation of the Weston event the Gloucester City 25
on the 3rd September is to be included in the series as a replacement.
The event will be held on the U72 course and details are as per the handbook.
5th June 2006 - Event cancelled
Some of you will already be aware that the Weston Hilly event scheduled
for the 25th of this month has had to be cancelled for safety reasons.
We are currently looking at the possibility of bringing in an alternative
event.

20th March 2006 - Bath Hilly Result
www.echelon-cycles.co.uk rider Gavin Poupart made it two from two wins
in the series when he took yesterday's Bath Hilly on a revised and shortened
course based at Maiden Bradley. Poupart took the honor of maiden course
record holder with the only sub hour ride on the 25 mile course with 59:05.
Last week's podium was reversed as home rider Rob Pears took second ahead
of David Kiddell (Cavalier CC) with a time of 1:00:49 to Kiddell's 1:01:54.
With Poupart not eligible for points it looks as if these two have drawn
out the battle lines for the 2006 series. Repeating his fourth place in
the Chippenham event Dave Rudland (Dursley RC) posted a time of 1:03:46
to put him ahead of former event winner Rob Lyne (Climb on Bikes RT) and
his 1:04:15.
Rob Pears took his second successive V4 win in the 2005 series While
Grahame Reed (Gillingham & District) just got the better of the only
other V5 rider to complete the course. It was another home victory as
Tom Ryan took the V6 prize. A very impressive ride by David Curtis Whitfield
of Sodbury Cycle Sport (alas the only junior) saw him take 9th place with
a time of 1:06:14. Ann Wooldridge (full time bike rider) took the ladies
prize. In a nice change from the norm it was Clevedon & District RC
who took prize with their super star V4's Giles Oakley, Pete Wheddon and
Mike Simmons combining for a time of 3:18:22. Full and final result here.
Updated points to follow.
8th March 2006 - Chippenham Result amendment
Having had the final result confirmed there are a couple of corrections
to the result posted at the weekend. Firstly, Giles Oakley put in a ride
of 1:00:21 to beat his Clevedon team mate Pete Wheddon into fifth spot.
The other corrections were mid table. Final result here.
Updated but still very provisional points here.
First 'reliable' points tables will be available once the March 31st affiliation
deadline has passed.
5th March 2006 - Chippenham Result
After a 45 minute delay due to ice and an accident on the course it was
Gavin Poupart of www.echelon-cycles.co.uk who took a convincing win in
blustery but bright conditions with a 56:50, putting him over a minute
and a half ahead of his nearest challenger. Repeating his second place
from 2005 defending series champion David Kiddell (Cavalier CC) showed
he has not rested on his laurels over the winter with a 58:21, well over
a minute quicker than 12 months ago. In third place was Bath CC's Rob
Pears with 59:05 as he continues his impressive start to 2006. Fourth
place went to Dursley RC rider Dave Rudland who just crept inside the
hour with 59:58. Fifth place went to Pete Wheddon with a 1:01:41 for the
Clevedon & District rider.
The stand out result from the morning came from winning lady Caroline
Kloiber of the promoting club who's time of 1:04:52 sliced over two minutes
off the ladies course record for this revised version of the U83 course.
Rob Pears took the V4 honors while Dursley's Dave Farmer took the V5 and
Bath's Tom Ryan took the V60+. It was those Dursley boys who yet again
took the team prize with Rudland joined by Derek Smetham and Neil Dimon.
Full provisional result here.
Very provisional points tables here.
